Janie Maddocks, Lady J herself!

Founder of Lady J’s Elegant Attire and Event Planning. 

I bring nearly 30 years of event planning and catering experience, along with 25 years in healthcare. As I approach retirement from healthcare, my lifelong dream of opening a formalwear boutique has finally come to life! A proud Maine native, I currently live in Winthrop with the love of my life, Jason.

Recently married, I experienced a lackluster journey while shopping for my own wedding dress. That experience inspired me to stop waiting—life is short—and pursue my dream. The result is Lady J’s Elegant Attire and Event Planning. My goal is to not only provide the most stunning formalwear at affordable prices but also to offer an all-inclusive experience to meet all your event needs.

My mission is simple: to ensure every woman feels respected and has the experience of a lifetime at Lady J’s. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and to me, being beautiful means being unapologetically yourself. Ladies, it’s your body—wear it proudly and beautifully. Love yourself first, and everything else will follow.

I’m also incredibly grateful for my beautiful blended family, which includes my three stepsons—Wyatt, Riley, and Jared, who are all grown and thriving—my son AJ, a high school freshman, and my daughters Brittany and Madison. Together, Brittany and Madison have joined me at Lady J’s to help make your dreams come true!

Brittany Chapman

Cosmetologist & Bridal Consultant

Brittany graduated from the Aveda Institute in 2020 and has been passionate about the beauty industry ever since. Thrilled to partner with her mother, Janie, at Lady J’s, Brittany brings her expertise and enthusiasm to every client she works with – 

Her fun and vibrant personality is infectious, making her a favorite among those she helps.

Before becoming a licensed cosmetologist, Brittany gained valuable experience working in the formalwear industry. Based in Damariscotta, she spends several days each week at Lady J’s as a bridal consultant and trusted wedding hair specialist, excited to assist with all your bridal hair needs.

When not at Lady J’s, Brittany enjoys relaxing at her home in Randolph with her boyfriend, Jamie, and their dog, Tank.

Madison Chapman

Esthetician & Bridal Consultant

Madison, a 2023 graduate of the Aveda Institute, shares her sister’s passion for the beauty industry and is thrilled to partner with her mother at Lady J’s. By day, Madison is a licensed realtor, but she also dedicates several days a week to Lady J’s as a bridal –

consultant and a true bridal makeup expert. With a focus on healthy skin and a specialization in mature skincare, Madison brings an eye for perfection to every look she creates and is excited to help with all your bridal makeup needs.

But that’s not all! Madison is also the owner of The Barrel Bar, a mobile bartending service based in Central Maine. As a certified mixologist, she can customize your wedding bar menu or assist with any special event. Whether it’s makeup or cocktails, Madison is ready to make your big day unforgettable!

Tina Rideout

Director of Operations 

Tina is one of those rare individuals who truly loves working in retail! With over 30 years of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Lady J’s. Having previously worked in a store that catered specifically to women, Tina has a keen understanding of  –

how to prioritize your needs and ensure a personalized shopping experience.

When she’s not at Lady J’s, Tina enjoys spending time at her home in Sidney or with her son, Ely.

Deirdre Berglund

Bridal Consultant & Media Liaison

Dee brings a wealth of experience to Lady J’s as a seasoned bridal consultant. Her passion for helping brides extends beyond just finding the perfect dress—she’s also skilled in assisting with the finer details of planning a dream wedding day!

 

When she’s not at Lady J’s, Dee stays busy as a Project Manager for a leading tech company and is an active member of the Gardiner area community. She cherishes quality time with her family in West Gardiner, making the most of her well-rounded and dynamic lifestyle.

Abigail Dutton

Stylist

Abbie, a Vassalboro native, was raised on the Dutton Family Farm with her parents and two brothers. Passionate about fashion from a young age, she has worked in various retail roles and is excited to bring her charisma and enthusiasm to Lady J’s, enhancing your –

shopping experience.

When she’s not at Lady J’s, Abbie can be found serving and bartending at a local pub or working alongside her mother at the Dutton Family Farm.

Oh, and did we mention that Abbie is also Lady J’s niece?
